The identity of tumor stem cell populations in intestinal adenoma remains uncharacterized definitively. Here we performed single-cell transcriptomic profiles of Lgr5-GFPhigh, p57-tdTomato+ and whole cell populations in the adenoma, and revealed that a spatiotemporal reprogramming event resembling post-injury regeneration of normal crypts is associated to the facultative acquisition of stemness in intestinal adenoma cell populations.
