Historical and Projected Hydroclimatic Data for Four European Case Studies

This dataset contains historical and projected hydroclimatic data developed within Task 1.1 of the Horizon Europe RECREATE project. The dataset covers four European case studies: North Holland (Netherlands), Kalundborg (Denmark), Syros (Greece), and Costa Brava (Spain). The data are derived from CMIP5/EURO-CORDEX climate projections obtained through the Copernicus Climate Data Store. They include a historical reference period (1971–2005) and future projections (2006–2095) under three Representative Concentration Pathway scenarios: RCP2.6, RCP4.5, and RCP8.5. Seven combinations of Global Climate Models (GCMs) and Regional Climate Models (RCMs) were selected for the analysis. River discharge and runoff-related data were additionally obtained using two hydrological models: E-HYPEgrid and VIC-WUR. The main hydroclimatic variables are air temperature, precipitation, evaporation, and discharge. The data support the analysis of climate change impacts on water availability, the development of water supply and demand scenarios, and the assessment of climate adaptation strategies across the RECREATE case studies.
