LncRNA and mRNA expression profile analysis defines the heterogeneity of pancreas islets

While the islet heterogeneity in size, number, architecture, cellular composition, and capillary density has been well studied in rodents and human, less is known about the islet heterogeneity in lncRNA and mRNA profile. To probe the heterogeneity of these molecular differences, microarray was used to examine lncRNA and mRNA expression profiles in islets from the head and tail regions of rat pancreas. Rat islets from the head and tail regions of pancreas were isolated respectively using a modified method by common bile ductal collagenase infusion.Total RNA from the isolated islets was extracted using TRIzol Reagent. Microarray was used to examine lncRNA and mRNA expression profiles in islets from the head and tail regions of rat pancreas.
