"To create a linear filter designed to receive a signal in the presence of intersymbol interference, an optimality criterion is proposed that ensures a minimum of interference power at the output of this filter for a given reference value of the useful component of the output mixture. The obtained analytical expressions allow us to represent the block diagram of such a linear filter as a cascade connection of a filter matched to the received channel symbol and a negative feedback device. The direct branch of the negative feedback device includes a filter with a complex transmission coefficient that is inversely proportional to the spectral power density of the channel interference, and the feedback circuit includes a filter with a transmission coefficient that depends on the spectral power density of the interference caused by the MSI."
