资源简介:

This dataset contains short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) concentrations measured by high-performance liquid chromatography with refractive index detection (HPLC-RID) in fecal samples from a randomized crossover intervention study. Study objective: To evaluate a personalized microbiota screening platform (MyDFF) for selecting optimal dietary fibers to enhance volatile fatty acid production. Study design: Eight healthy Japanese adults participated in a randomized crossover trial with three phases: baseline period, least prebiotic dietary fiber (L-PDF) intervention, and most prebiotic dietary fiber (M-PDF) intervention. Each participant provided 9 fecal samples (72 total samples). Analytical method: Ion-exclusion HPLC using Aminex HPX-87H column (300 × 7.8 mm, Bio-Rad) with 5 mM sulfuric acid mobile phase at 65°C. Detection by refractive index detector (RID-10A, Shimadzu). Five SCFAs were quantified: acetate, propionate, butyrate, lactate, and succinate. Data format: CSV files containing sample IDs, metadata, and SCFA concentrations expressed as μmol/g fecal wet weight. Related publication: Osawa R, Inoue J, Fukuda I, Shirai Y, Kodama Y. A personalized microbiota screening platform for optimizing individual volatile fatty acid production - A proof-of-concept study. Submitted to Microbiome, 2026.
