Euscelidius variegatus strain:to-1 Transcriptome or Gene expression

Phytoplasmas are plant pathogenic prokaryotes transmitted by phloem-sup sucking insects. These bacteria can induce either pathogenic or positive effects to their vectors. The leafhopper Euscelidius variegatus is an efficient natural vector of Chrysanthemum yellows phytoplasma (CYp) and a laboratory vector of Flavescence dorée phytoplasma (FDp). Different effects on this vector species are induced by these two genetically unrelated phytoplasmas. To investigate the insect vector responses, RNAseq analysis of E. variegatus infected with CYp and FDp was performed, providing the first de-novo sequence assembly for a phytoplasma insect vector.
