A Gram-stain-negative bacterium, WZY 27T, was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of Araceae plant. Cells were strictly aerobic, motile, orange and rod-shaped. Strain WZY 27T grew optimally at pH 7.0 and in R2A. Its optimum growth temperature was 25-28°C. The major fatty acids (>5 %) of strain WZY 27T were summed feature 8 (18:1 w7c), C16:0, C14:0 2-OH, 18:1ω7c 11-methyl. The predominant respiratory quinone and polyamine were identified as ubiquinone Q-10 and homospermidine, respectively. The major polar lipids detected in strain WZY 27T were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, aminolipid, glycolipids, phosphatidylcholine and sphingoglycolipid. The G+C content of the genomic DNA was determined to be 68.37 mol %.
