Shared and Divergent Processes Linked to Monocot Diversity Across the Mediterranean Climate Regions

This is the accompaning dataset for Shared and Divergent Processes Linked to Monocot Diversity Across the Mediterranean Climate Regions, Global Ecology and Biogeography, 2026 (https://doi.org/10.1111/geb.70209). It contains all input data used in analyses performed in the publication, which analyzes the role of Meditteranean climates on shaping Monocot biodiversity patterns. This analysis assesses each of the five Meditteranean climatic regions (Australia, California, Chile, Med. Basin, South Africa), taking a particular interest in geopyhtic species, which resprout from underground organs. The data herein includes a list of Monocot species assessed in the analysis (Monocots_Species_Regions.csv); spatial raster stacks of modeled distributions for these species for each region (e.g., aus_stack.tif for Australia); spatial coordinates of occurrence data used to produce the species distribution models (cleanedCoordinates.zip); DNA sequence alignment (FcC_supermatrix_dupsmerge.fas) and a phylogenetic tree of the Monocot species (ultrametric_mean_nex.tre); data on geophytic traits for the species (wcvp_names_accepted_subset_geophytescored.csv); environmental rasters at ~4km resolution in a Mollweide projection (vars_mol.zip); and shape files (with associated meta data - all in a zipped folder) for the Mediterranean climate zones (coreMedZones.zip) and the analyzed regions (e.g. Australia_mol.zip). These data were used to produce measurements of spatial phylogenetic diversity and to perform statistical models on their relationship with key environmental variables and with Mediterranean climate zones.
