Comparing otolith shape, vertebral count (VS) and length among herring populations Norwegian spring spawners (NSS), Coastal Skagerrak spring spawners (CSS) and Landvik herring (LV).

NSS herring were also compared between sampling locations, inside (NSS-ILV) and outside (NSS-OLV) Landvikvannet. ANOVA like permutation tests were used to assess the difference in otolith shape and ANOVA for the vertebral count and fish length comparisons. For otolith shape: df: degrees of freedom, Var: Variance among populations, F: pseudo F-value, P: proportion of permutations which gave as large or larger F-value than the observed one. For the vertebral count and fish length: df: degrees of freedom, Mean Sq: Mean Square, F: F-value, P: P-value. P-values for posteriori comparisons have been corrected with a Bonferroni correction.
