<p>This survey was sponsored by Figgie International and conducted by Research and Forecasts, Inc. A national sample of 1,047 adults were interviewed in April - May 1980. Major topics covered: feelings regarding safety when alone in cetnral business or shopping areas; reading, viewing and discussing reports of violent crime; recent hours of TV watching and days of newspaper reading; worries regarding getting murdered, sexually assaulted, mugged, beaten up, knifed and fire set by an arsonist.</p>
