Gene database of Paraburkholderia xenovorans LB400

Paraburkholderia xenovorans
is an aerobic polychlorinated biphenyl degrader which serves an important role
as model organism for bioremediation studies. Known to have the largest
bacterial genome to date at 9.7 Mb, much remains to be understood of this
unique prokaryotic organism which has three distinct chromosomes in its cells.
This work sought to provide fundamental information about the genetic repertoire
of P. xenovorans LB400 by parsing its annotated genome sequence
downloaded from Genbank. Comprising gene name, gene function, and gene
sequence, the resource should be useful for functional genomics study seeking
to decipher novel functions from genes in the organism or in molecular cloning
work seeking to exploit aromatics degrading capability of the organism through
heterologous expression in other microbial chassis such as Escherichia coli.
