Swimming pools in Mykonos in 2010

Overview Detection of punctual quantification of swimming pools in Mykonos (Greece) in 2010. Aim The objective is to provide an accurate dataset of the locations of swimming pools in Mykonos where there has been a large urban development for tourism purposes. The point vector is the result of a semi-automatic classification process developed for research purposes. about open source and time-saving alternative methodology for the detection of man-made structures such as swimming pools. The methodology was based on the combined use of opensource software QGIS and GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP).The dataset brings together the pools that were actually classified and those that were not identified by the procedure but were integrated through photo-interpretation. The orthophotos used for classification are obtained from Greek National Cadastre and Mapping Agency S.A. via WMS link https://geodata.gov.gr/en/dataset/orthophotographies-gia-to-sunolo-tes-ellados Data structure Each point in the shapefile represents the location of a pool as displayed in the reference orthophoto (2010). The shapefile is in EPSG:4326 and has no other information in the attribute table Usage The dataset can be used for various purposes related to spatial analyses on aspects of urban and/or tourist development of the Mykonos.
