MODVOLC
MODVOLC is a database that uses infrared satellite data collected by NASA's MODIS instruments to monitor thermal radiation signatures of volcanic eruptions, wildfires, and anthropogenic heat sources (e.g., gas flares) across the Earth's surface. The system employs the two MODIS sensors onboard the Terra and Aqua satellites, allowing it to conduct global surveillance every 48 hours. When a volcanic eruption is detected, its detailed information will be reported via NASA's Near-Real-Time Data and Image System (LANCE) within 1 to 2 hours after the satellite passes over the volcano. Users can access web-based tools to search, visualize, and download the dataset.
