资源简介:
Automotive millimeter wave Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave radars are finding widespread use in various fields. At times, the hardware specifications of commercial-off-the-shelf products prohibit the use of these products for other diverse radar measurements. More often, velocity ambiguity results when an attempt is made to measure the velocity of a high-speed target with a radar that is not designed for that purpose in the first place. Owing to the cost effectiveness of such products, it is desirable for technologists and application experts to find ways to circumvent and resolve such velocity ambiguity. This tutorial study is thus presented as an applied field example in a challenging environment to demonstrate the use of the Chinese Remainder Theorem for resolving velocity ambiguity. The relevant signal processing and real-life data attributes are discussed along with the indication of possible pitfalls and minute but important considerations. Detailed aspects are explained for tuning the radar parameters for a demonstrative case of a high-speed target with a small radar cross section. Significant field data are gathered and the velocity ambiguity is resolved successfully. Such a tutorial study of velocity disambiguation in radars has not been reported in the literature with similar scenarios, operating frequencies and target speeds, therefore, the field dataset is also made available for further research.
