NRS-625 | Schedules of school fees charged in National Schools

These are manuscript letters and tabulated schedules received by the Secretary of the Board from the Western, Northern and Metropolitan District Inspectors "showing the rate of fees charged in the National Schools of the (respective) district, the principle upon which these charges have been levied (eg., number of pupils, age of children), the character of the localities in which these schools are situated (eg. village, town), and also certain General Remarks bearing upon these points". Also included are letters received from Patrons of National Schools in reply to a circular of the Board (1860) concerning the amount of fees charged, the uses to which these school fees are put, and the possibility of altering the scale of fees to a uniform rate to be established by the Board.
