Comprehensive analysis of complete chloroplast genome of Rosa willmottiae

In this study, the complete chloroplast genome of Rosa willmottiae was obtained by high-throughput sequencing as well as assembly. The length of the chloroplast genome was 157277bp, including large single-copy (LSC,86207bp) and small single-copy (SSC, 19264bp) regions separated by two copies inverted repeat region (IR, 25903bp). The chloroplast genome contains 129 genes, including 8 rRNAs, 36 tRNAs, and 85 pro-tein-coding genes. Comparative analysis of the chloroplast genomes of the five species showed that the coding regions had higher similarity than the non-coding regions, and that the sequence differences between Rosa willmottiae and Kushui Rose were smaller than those of the other three species. Phylogenetic analyses, on the other hand, revealed that Rosa willmottiae is the closest relative to Kushui Rose. This analysis of the chloroplast genome of Rosa willmottiae will contribute to a deeper un-derstanding of the evolutionary relationships of genus Rosa.
