High-resolution scanning electron microscopy images of the stomatal response to water stress in lentil (Lens sp.) seedlings

Images obtained via scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of the surface of lentil (Lens culinaris) leaves. Samples were obtained from 7 different genotypes grown in hydroponic conditions during 2 weeks. The hydroponic medium was prepared with Hoagland Modified Basal Salt Mixture H353 dissolved in distilled water following the manufacturer's instructions. Control samples were kept in Hoaglands solution for an additional week and, for treated samples, 15% polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000 was added to the medium. During the experimental week, leaf samples were fixed and images of their surface were obtained with SEM after 2, 4 and 6 days since the start of the treatment. two types of images were taken, at 200 and 2000 augmentation.
