Bibliographic References Extracted from Doctoral Theses in Psychology in Argentina, 2008–2025

This dataset contains 30,603 bibliographic references extracted from 117 doctoral theses in psychology submitted at three Argentine universities between 2008 and 2025: Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, and Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata.

The main unit of analysis is the individual bibliographic reference. Each reference is linked to its source thesis through the field thesis_id and has a unique reference identifier, ref_uid.

The references were extracted from full-text PDF documents through a semi-automated workflow that included reference-section detection, reference segmentation, bibliographic parsing, document-type classification, author normalization, journal identification, DOI recovery, indexation enrichment, and quality auditing.

Version v1.3 includes a public core dataset (dataset_v1_core.csv), a technical audit dataset (dataset_v1_audit.csv), thesis-level metadata (theses_metadata.csv), a bilingual data dictionary (variables_dictionary.csv), and a README file. The dataset can be reused for bibliometric analysis, studies of doctoral training, citation analysis, research on journal and publisher circulation, grey literature studies, natural language processing, text mining, and network analysis.

The dataset should not be interpreted as a complete representation of psychology in Argentina or of all doctoral production in the country. Its scope is limited to doctoral theses available in institutional repositories from three Argentine universities. Indexation layers should be interpreted as curated enrichment fields, not as an exhaustive representation of all possible indexing sources.
