Dermacentor nuttalli

Dermacentor nuttalli, a tick species of the genus Dermacentor (family Ixodidae). The basis capituli is rectangular, slightly wider than long, and both cornua and palps are broadly truncated. The ventral surfaces of two segments lack setae, and the dental formula is 3/3. The scutum has a truncated anterior margin and a rounded posterior margin, with pale enamel coloration. This species parasitizes livestock in grassland zones and occasionally infests humans, capable of transmitting plague (Yersinia pestis) and other infectious diseases.
