Evolution of the crystal structure of the layered oxysulfide Sr2MnO2Cu5.5S4

This is a proposal to probe subtle structural changes in a layered oxysulfide, Sr2MnO2Cu5.5S4 over a wide temperature range and characterise the driving force for these transitions. This compound is being probed as a potential thermoelectric material and a full understanding of the subtle changes relating to the Cu/vacancy distribution and disorder in the sulfide layer and electronic transitions in the manganese oxide layer will be key to full understanding of the physical properties.
