Expression data from human hamstring tendon

The hamstring tendon is used as autograft in surgical reconstruction of tears of the anterior cruciate ligament. The rate of re-rupture after surgery is higher in younger patients. The aim of the study was to identify molecular mechanisms that underlie the greater susceptibility of tendon from younger people to tear. We used superfluous tissue of hamstring tendon from reconstructive surgeries to compare gene expression between two groups of patients: 9 patients under the age of 20 years and 10 patients over the age of 20 years at time of surgery.
