资源简介:
Pregnancy is a critical period marked by intricate physiological changes and maintaining maternal and fetal well-being is paramount. Inositols, a group of naturally occurring sugar alcohols, have gained attention for their potential benefits during pregnancy. This abstract provides a comprehensive review of the current literature on the use of inositols, primarily myo-inositol (MI) and D-chiro-inositol (DCI) in pregnancy. Inositols play a crucial role in cellular signal transduction and insulin sensitivity, making them integral to various physiological processes. Several studies suggest that inositols may contribute to the prevention and management of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). MI, in particular, has shown promise in improving insulin sensitivity and mitigating insulin resistance, thereby influencing glucose metabolism. As our understanding of inositol's role in pregnancy deepens, it may emerge as a valuable supplement to enhance maternal and fetal health outcomes.
