Total population in Denmark 2000-2024, by citizenship

Over the last 24 years, the total population in Denmark grew steadily. Moreover, both the number of people holding a Danish citizenship and the number of people with a foreign citizenship has increased. In 2024, the number of foreign citizens living in Denmark was 650,000, more than twice as many as in 2000. 5.31 million people holding a Danish citizenship lived in Denmark at the beginning of 2024.
