TRADITIONS OF RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE IN UZBEK SOCIETY: HISTORICAL CONTINUITY AND CONTEMPORARY SOCIO-CULTURAL DYNAMICS

This article examines the traditions of religious tolerance in Uzbek society as a historically established and continuously developing socio-cultural phenomenon. The research analyzes historical roots of interfaith harmony in the region, as well as modern institutional and legal frameworks that ensure freedom of conscience in contemporary Uzbekistan. Statistical data indicate that more than 2,300 religious organizations representing various confessions operate in the country, reflecting significant religious diversity. The study highlights that religious tolerance in Uzbekistan is sustained through both cultural heritage and state policy, contributing to social stability and interethnic harmony. The findings suggest that the Uzbek model of religious coexistence effectively integrates secular governance with respect for spiritual diversity.
