Viral Metagenome-Assembled Genomes (>10 kb) from Tongyeong Coastal Seawater (2018)

This dataset contains viral metagenome-assembled genomes (vMAGs; &gt;10 kb, medium confidence) derived from seawater samples collected from the Tongyeong coastal waters of South Korea in 2018. Metagenomic contigs were generated through de novo assembly using metaSPAdes (v3.13.0), and only high-quality viral sequences (contigs ≥3,000 bp) were retained based on quality filtering and CheckV evaluation. The remaining contigs were then processed with vRhyme for viral genome reconstruction. After binning, contigs within each bin were connected through a total of 20 links (N = 20) during the linking step, allowing them to be assembled into final vMAGs. These data provide insight into the seasonal and environmental dynamics of marine viral communities in the Tongyeong coastal ecosystem and may serve as a reference for future coastal viromics or environmental virology studies.
