National Highway System (NHS)

The Idaho Transportation Department's (ITD) Roads and Highways Road Network Linear Referencing System (LRS) National Highway System (NHS) event polyline feature class that is more specifically referenced as the Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways. It consists of routes of highest importance to the nation which connect, as directly as practical, principal metropolitan areas, cities and industrial centers. Additionally, it includes important routes into, through and around urban areas, serving national defense, and to the greatest extent possible, connect at suitable, border points with continental importance into and out of Canada and Mexico.
