Mixed ligand approach has been successfully applied to design coordination polymers with diversiform architectures. In this study, two novel mixed-ligand Zn(II)-based coordination polymers [Zn(bdc)(bib)](H<sub>2</sub>O)<sub>3</sub> (<b>1</b>, H<sub>2</sub>bdc = 1,4-dicarboxybenzene, bib = 1,3-bis(imidazol-1-yl)benzene) and [Zn(NH<sub>2</sub>-bdc)(bib)](H<sub>2</sub>O)<sub>2</sub> (<b>2</b>, NH<sub>2</sub>-H<sub>2</sub>bdc = 2-amino-1,4-dicarboxybenzene) have been successfully prepared based on zinc nitrate, N-containing ligand and linear carboxylate ligand at the same hydrothermal condition. The anti-viability of compounds <b>1</b> and <b>2</b> against SMMC-7721 liver cancer cells was assessed with CCK-8 detection kit. Besides, the cell apoptosis and ROS detection experiments were also performed to study the related mechanism about the anticancer activity of compounds <b>1</b> and <b>2</b>.
