NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data project (1.0) was developed by NCEP -- NCAR using the national advanced analysis/prediction system to assimilate data from the past (1949-recent).Most of this data comes from raw daily averages from the PSD.For data on isobaric surfaces, the typical vertical resolution is 17 layers, from 1000hPa to 10hPa.The horizontal resolution is generally 2.5⁰×2.5⁰.NCEP reanalysis data is an international comparison of systematic atmospheric science reanalysis data set. Compared with the European center's reanalysis data, NCEP reanalysis data covers earlier starting years and the latest data is updated faster.
