Ontario Election Study, 1977

The survey was intended to provide data on individual perceptions of issues, parties, and leaders in the context of the 1977 ontario provincial election and to permit a detailed examination of federal and provincial party identification. Also it permitted the testing of some hypotheses about voter rationality involving competitiveness, political interests, and the costs and benefits of participation. In addition, the survey was concerned with the links between politics and mass media, examining both the influence self-reported and inferred of exposure to the mass media on the vote decision and the use made of media by citizens during the election campaign.
