Streptococcus dysgalactiae is classified Group C or G and streptococcal infections have been increasing concern worldwide. Streptococcus dysgalactiae with invasive infection has been reported but spread of this infection in family members not reported previously. We report an intra-familial transmission of Streptococcus dysgalactiae subsp. equisimilis (SDSE) occurred bacteremia based on cellulitis in a woman and her father-in-law who live together. We report the first ever reported case of intra-familial transmission of SDSE cellulitis with bacteremia. We describe the clinical and microbial characteristics, and also discuss the careful observation among family members, close contacts and transmission of patients with SDSE.
