Expected effect of generative AI on the legal industry worldwide in 2023, by impact

Canadian lawyers were the most likely respondents to expect transformative impact from increased use of generative AI in law in 2023. U.S. lawyers were the least likely to expect transformative change but in contrast were the most likely to expect some impact from generative AI. U.S. lawyers were also by far the largest group of respondents that expected no change at all, at nearly twice the rate of other countries.
