We assembled the chromosome-scale genome of Musa itinerans var. formosana, which is highly resistant to the tropical race 4 (Foc-TR4) resulting in severe losses of worldwide bananas. A critical toxin produced by Foc-TR4 is the fusaric acid (FA). The transcriptome data unveil novel mechanisms of FA resistance.
