Traffic Video Survey

This dataset presents the location of video traffic surveys on the road network and URLs to traffic survey reports hosted by Main Roads. Selected locations are surveyed to improve understanding of traffic flows on or associated with the State Road network and paths. Each survey location includes a downloadable report containing detailed traffic data, typically in Microsoft Excel or Adobe PDF format. The structure of these reports vary depending on the survey purpose, scope and location. Most surveys occur at road intersections with common tabs including daily summaries, peak hour breakdowns, intersection diagrams, and pedestrian counts. Additional tabs may appear in some reports, such as aerial imagery, camera-specific data, gap analysis, traffic signal timing, queue lengths, origin-destination mapping proportions and event logs. Example Excel Report Tab Overview: Tab Name Purpose Raw Data Timestamped vehicle movements and classifications captured during the survey. Daily Summary Agregated vehicle counts by day, including directional splits and vehicle types. Peak Hr Summary AM and PM peak hour breakdowns with directional and vehicle-type detail. Intersection Diagram Visual layout of the surveyed intersection, including approach labels and camera positions. Peds Pedestrian movement counts, often categorized by crossing type and time of day. Aerial Overhead image of the intersection or survey site, used for spatial reference. Cam 83 Camera-specific data or footage reference, typically tied to a numbered camera unit. Diagram Simplified schematic of the intersection layout, often with interactive vehicle counts for different movement types. Data (15 mins) Vehicle counts aggregated in 15-minute intervals for detailed temporal analysis. Data (hours) Hourly vehicle counts, useful for broader traffic flow trends. Ped Data Pedestrian movement records, often with timestamps and crossing direction.
