The data are associated with Takagi et al., Biophysical Journal (2014; DOI: 10.1016/j.bpj.2013.12.033). Metaphase spindles assembled in Xenopus egg extracts were captured and stretched using a pair of glass microneedles, and changes in spindle morphology in response to mechanical perturbations were quantitatively analyzed. Time-lapse imaging data and numerical analysis data are provided.
