A Photovoice study uncovering women's experiences of homelessness: images by participant two

This dataset is taken from a Photovoice study, which is part of the PhD thesis titled ‘HOME IS WHERE THE HOPE IS: UNCOVERING THE HIDDENNESS IN WOMEN’S EXPERIENCES OF HOMELESSNESS’, by Sara Christou.<br>A total of seventeen women participated in the research, of whom seven contributed to the Photovoice study. The collection of images in this dataset were taken by participant two.<br>The research was conducted through semi-structured interviews and a Photovoice study, capturing the women’s tacit knowledge to produce a rich set of textual and visual data, which provide contributions to knowledge on homelessness and hopefulness. The thesis presents that hiddenness can be conceptualised as a way of understanding women’s experiences of transitioning-out of homelessness, through the politics and pragmatics of (in)visibility. It further uncovers insights from women who have faced crises and continue to evoke their hopes, and those who have lost hope through the loss of home. From this, transitioning-out of homelessness is part of a new belonging cultivated through the mobilisation of hope.
