资源简介:
This study seeks to understand the safety needs of major cities in the United States. Specifically, it seeks to understand how cities address the issue of traffic safety, as well as to identify the research, information, and guidance they view as being most essential to advancing their safety needs. This study will entail both a survey of National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) member cities, and a focus group of specific members with an active interest in safety to answer the following questions: What do city officials view as being their most pressing safety issues? To what extent do the safety priorities of cities differ from those of regional, state, and federal agencies? What data and analytical techniques are currently used to evaluate city traffic safety needs? What unique policies or practices have cities developed to advance urban traffic safety objectives? What types of information or guidance do cities view as being most essential to advancing their safety needs? The results of this effort will identify the safety-related research, information, and guidance needs of city transportation officials, which will in turn produce a series of practice-relevant research topics that may be pursued by the CSCRS in future years.
