WORLD Child Immigration Detention Policies 2018

The WORLD Policy Analysis Center (WORLD) is committed to improving the quantity and quality of globally comparative data available to policymakers, citizens, civil society, and researchers on laws and policies that work to support human rights, including economic opportunity, social and civic engagement, human health, development, well-being, and equity. The WORLD Child Immigration Detention Policies 2018 dataset was created to assess progress and gaps on laws and policies protecting children from immigration-related detention through a systematic review of laws and policies governing asylum-seekers, refugees, and immigration across the 150 most populous UN member states as of July 31, 2018. The dataset covers legal provisions prohibiting the detention of minor migrants and asylum seekers, as well as the conditions faced while in detention, including separation from adult strangers, family unity, access to health care, and access to education.
