HEART Service Area

Starting the week of June 27th, 2022, Durham's Community Safety Department's Community Response Teams began dispatching unarmed, three-person teams as first responders when 911 calls are received about non-violent mental health crises or quality-of-life concerns. These teams, under the name "HEART", include mental health clinicians, peer support specialists, and emergency medical technicians. As of October 23, 2023, this program operates citywide, as shown on this service map.
