Previous research (Nakamura et al., 2019) identified maternal effects on grain dormancy in F1 seeds from reciprocal crosses between the wild progenitor H602 and the malting barley cultivar 'Kanto Nakate Gold' (KNG). Notably, H602 x KNG F1 seeds exhibited higher dormancy compared to KNG x H602 F1 seeds.
