Status Review Report: Dwarf Seahorse (Hippocampus zosterae)

This Status Review was conducted in response to a petition to list dwarf seahorse (Hippocampus zosterae) as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). On April 6, 2011, the Center for Biological Diversity requested the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) to list the dwarf seahorse as threatened or endangered under the ESA. Pursuant to the ESA, a Status Review or Biological Assessment shall be promptly commenced if a petition is found to present substantial scientific or commercial information that the petitioned action may be warranted (16 U.S.C. 1533(b)(3)(A)).
