Project Summary: CosmicRayID CosmicRayID is a compact (<50 kg, <50 W), autonomous cosmic-ray spectrometer designed to address a critical gap in space instrumentation. It integrates four advanced detector modalities (Time-of-Flight, MAPS Tracker, Ring-Imaging Cherenkov, and Homogeneous Crystal Calorimeter) with a radiation-hardened AI (CNN) for real-time data fusion, enabling precise particle identification (>98% for protons, >97% for heavy ions) and isotopic separation for light nuclei. Covering an energy range of 10–100,000 MeV/nucleon with charge resolution σ_Z < 0.2e, it supports frontier astrophysics by probing dark matter, baryon asymmetry (anti-nuclei searches), and Galactic Cosmic Ray propagation (B/C ratios). Additionally, it provides real-time, species-resolved radiation data for astronaut safety during Artemis and Mars missions. At TRL 3-4, backed by Geant4 simulations and a clear maturation plan, CosmicRayID aligns with NASA’s Astrophysics Pioneers and Artemis programs, positioning it as a key enabler for next-generation space science and exploration.
