This dataset consists of 3,694 typewritten index cards from the Peabody Institute Library — Sutton Room Local History Resource Center in Peabody, Massachusetts, indexing people, events, and news in South Danvers/Peabody as recorded in local newspapers. The cards were created over decades by library staff as the principal finding aid for the local newspaper archive. It also includes a companion Poor Family genealogy index. Harvested from 5 Internet Archive items, each row pairs a full-resolution card scan with OCR text and full provenance information. The dataset is in the public domain, suitable for tasks like image-to-text and image-classification, in English, with a size between 1K and 10K.
