The data set contains the forest areas (1 ha) with a special regional climate protection function in the Free State of Saxony. Forest with a special regional climate protection function improves climate and air quality through air exchange as a result of differences in temperature between the forest area and its surroundings. In addition, the forest intensifies air turbulence, which also improves air quality. Forest promotes an exchange of air masses at regional level and thus indirectly influences the urban climate.
