Zimbabwe (2005): HIV TRaC Study Evaluating the Use of Voluntary Counseling and Testing Services among Urban Youth Second Round

In Zimbabwe, over 15,000 clients access voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) services on a monthly basis through the New Start VCT network. To date, almost 10% of the adult population knows their HIV status (Futures, 2004). Though these are significant numbers compared to elsewhere, there is a need to increase uptake of VCT services among specific target groups. It is, therefore, important to identify significant behavioral determinants that are correlated with knowing one's status (i.e., uptake of VCT services) and to assess whether demand creation strategies are promoting use of VCT services.
