Ocean Bottom Seismometer data of line TS2017-2 across the Challenger Deep

This archive includes wide-angle seismic data from line TS2017-2 collected in the southern Mariana trench. Line TS2017-2 was collected in January 2017 using R/V Tan Suo Yi Hao. This line is perpendicular to the trench, extending from the outer rise and outer trench slope in the Pacific plate to the inner trench slope and forearc blocks in the overriding plate. The objective is to investigate the detailed crustal structure of the southern Mariana subduction zone and to elucidate the influence of tectonic deformation and its mechanism of formation here. The seismic source consisted of a four-air-gun array with a total volume of 6000 cu. in. The shooting interval was 90 s at an average ship speed of 5 knots. In total, 963 shots were fired along the TS2017-2 profile. Twenty OBSs with four components were deployed at intervals of 10 km along the profile, and Four stations (OBS08, OBS09, OBS10 and OBS11) used the latest 10,000-meter-deep instruments. Eighteen instruments among them were retrieved successfully with high-quality data, but two OBSs (OBS08 and OBS 10) were lost. All OBSs were built by the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The format of seismic data in this repository is SEGY.
