Lithium solid-state batteries (SSBs), via the implementation of Li-metal anodes, offer, in theory, a substantial increase in gravimetric energy density compared to Li-ion batteries. While developments are promising, SSBs still suffer from a range of problems. Problems largely originate from a chemo-mechanical degradation at buried interfaces upon cycling. In these continuation experiments (CH-7030), we would like to make use of recently developed capabilities, i.e. the development of a miniaturized sulphide-based SSBs (LiMgǀLi6PS5ClǀLiMnNiO) compatible with Operando Near-Field Ptychographic X-ray computed NanoTomography (NF-PXCT), to characterize spatially correlated chemo-mechanical degradation processes in SSBs approaching industry targeted composition with nanometre resolution.
