Data and code for: Climate Change and Surface Brightening Across Europe: Quantifying the Contribution of Aerosol Decline to Recent Warming

Data and code accompanying the manuscript "Climate Change and Surface Brightening Across Europe: Quantifying the Contribution of Aerosol Decline to Recent Warming", submitted to Scientific Reports. This repository contains the processed/derived data files and analysis scripts used to produce the results, tables and figures reported in the manuscript. It does not include raw third-party source data (ERA5, AERONET, NASA POWER/CERES, NOAA, EDGAR), which remain subject to their original providers' terms and are freely available from the sources listed in the manuscript's Data Availability statement and in this repository's README. Contents: data/ — 45 processed CSV/TXT files: station-level temperature and radiation trends (Sen's slope, Hamed-Rao modified Mann-Kendall, Benjamini-Hochberg FDR correction), AOD threshold-sensitivity and seasonal analyses, confounder-regression inputs and outputs, pooled and station-and-year fixed-effects pathway estimates with exact Rademacher wild-cluster bootstrap inference, EDGAR v8.1 anthropogenic SO2 sensitivity check, ERA5 2023 processing-artifact verification, BSRN Cabauw independent radiation cross-check. processing_scripts/ — 23 Python scripts covering the full pipeline from raw-data extraction through to every statistical result reported in the manuscript, organized by analysis stage with full docstrings documenting inputs, outputs, and methodology.
