Beaver-Elk Lake Stewards Water Quality Monitoring

This data includes water quality results from 2 monitoring programs: Elk and Beaver Lakes; and streams draining into Elk and Beaver Lakes. These lakes are located within the Capital Regional District, near Victoria, British Columbia.

The data monitoring program for the streams was initially planned by Beaver Elk Environmental Stewards (BEES) Directors in consultation with Peninsula Streams and Shorelines and Capital Regional District (CRD) Parks. The data monitoring program for the lakes was planned by BEES directors in consultation with CRD Parks and other organizations and scientists.

The water quality monitoring and associated tests align with the intent and actions within the CRD Elk/Beaver Lake Watershed Management Plan. The stream and lake monitoring and actions are intended to support the remediation actions for Elk Lake. The monitoring plan has evolved since originally started in 2021, with sample sites changing over time. Regular meetings between BEES directors and CRD staff are held to discuss the continuation of the data and sample collections.
