Longitudinal Multi-parameter Laboratory and Treatment Dataset of Snakebite Patients in Northwest China

This repository contains a longitudinal clinical dataset of 68 patients hospitalized with a clinical diagnosis of snakebite at a hospital in Gansu Province, northwestern China, with source records spanning 2023 to 2025. The dataset contains 10,361 timestamped laboratory test records covering 62 laboratory indicators, 326 timestamped treatment records, a laboratory test catalog, case-authentication and syndrome-classification data, descriptive statistics, an integrated workbook, a README/data dictionary, and an R validation script. Laboratory test items were standardized and mapped to the corresponding LOINC codes using the LOINC v2.73 reference table, while measurement units were retained as reported in the source laboratory information system (LIS). Absolute dates were shifted forward using patient-specific random offsets of 1,200–1,600 days to protect patient privacy while preserving within-patient temporal relationships. Species-level identification of the offending snake was not systematically available. Case authentication and clinical syndrome classification are recorded separately from species-level identification and should not be interpreted as evidence of species-level identification. Records of antivenom administration are provided as treatment information and do not constitute evidence of the offending snake species. The dataset is intended primarily for exploratory and hypothesis-generating analyses of longitudinal laboratory trajectories, coagulation abnormalities, antivenom use patterns, treatment timing, and changes in organ function, as well as for related methodological research. It should not be used to infer the offending snake species, compare the effectiveness of different antivenoms, or establish clinical monitoring protocols without external validation.
