Accompanying dataset for: "Atmospheric dispersion of reactor-released ⁴¹Ar on the near range: a model intercomparison study"

Introduction

This repository contains relevant information for the routine release of argon-41 from the 60-m stack at BR1 in Mol, Belgium, on 9 July 2014. 

Measurement data

The Excel file contains several tabs with data that were measured in situ. It contains

the release rate of Ar-41 from BR1: raw signal (cps), calibrated signal (GBq/h) and truncated version thereof;

the wind speed and direction at 24 m*, 48 m and 69 m, the temperature at 8 m and 114 m, pressure and hygro;

the ambient dose equivalent rate in sixteen environmental gamma radiation monitors;

the coordinates of the BR1 stack, the meteorological mast and the radiation monitors.

In the files, the time is always given as UTC. Local time is CEST/UTC+02.

*The wind speed and direction at 24 m is much more variable than the wind speeds and directions at 48 m and 69 m. Use with caution.

NWP data

Separate .dat files are included that contain point meteo extracted from ECMWF's IFS. Both 3-hourly ('_default') and 1-hourly ('_hres') intervals are available for levels 130 through 137 of ECMWF (i.e., the eight lowest layers). Listed are

U and V components of the wind vector;

temperature;

potential temperature ;

precipitation (only at ground level).

In the files, the time is always given as UTC. Local time is CEST/UTC+02.
